Bangladesh exportable items to Japan

    Bangladesh exports to Japan though figures more than 70 items but only 7/8 items constitutes 90% shares of the total export in Japan. The principle items exports to Japan are shrimp, leather, footwear, apparels, jute and jute goods, chemical fertilizer, handicrafts, camera lenses, etc. On the other hand import from Japan to Bangladesh includes raw materials for industrial use, machineries, vehicle-new and used, equipments under development projects, electronics, etc.

Trade figure between Bangladesh and Japan

    Since the beginning of the trade between the two countries, Japan always shares nearly 80 percent of the total figure in the process of export-import between them. The entire volume in trade in 2005 registered, Bangladesh exports to Japan was 138 million dollar where Japans exports to Bangladesh was over 550 million dollar.

Japanese investment in Bangladesh

    Japanese investment in Bangladesh ranks 4^th among the foreign investing countries, after the USA, UK, and Malaysia. So far about 146 projects with 100 percent investment or joint venture between Bangladesh and Japanese companies have been registered with the BOI having the figure amounting 1193.769 million US $. The areas of Japanese investment are chemical fertilizer, deep sea fishing, metal parts and components, automobile parts, golf shafts, camera parts and electronic accessories, jute twines, etc.
